One time when I was waiting for a track meet to start, everyone was preparing for races by stretching and warming up. The coach called everyone together because he had a few words to say. He has the voice of someone that should be on a talk show and the way he makes eye contact with everyone is like he is looking into your soul. You can tell that the words are coming from his heart. Therefore, when he started explaining how important this track meet was to our season and that we had to try our best everyone was paying attention. After most of his speech and stating a quote that he put in his own words he told us to be confident in ourselves and run with passion, I was ready to race. When his speech was over I got the chills and then finished getting ready for hurdles. That meet I got my best personal time and I knew I had him to thank for his outstanding speech that got me motivated.

You don't usual think about such an informal setting producing a great public speaking examples but sometimes those are the ones that have a more personal effect. You can see that he delivered his message well because of the result and feedback (getting your best times) you gave. Motivational speeches are my favorite so great choice!
ReplyDeleteMotivational speeches typically aren't my favorite because I feel that they can be a bit repetitive and sound like lectures. However, when you do hear a good motivational speech, the message really does stick with you.
